- Workers at the National Westminster Bank in Preston are back to work today after being held captive by armed raiders who escaped with a small fortune (15/09/88). Senior bank official Donald Flitcroft(?) said in a statement that his staff are his primary concern, while the bank manager, Roger Ball - who had been kidnapped along with his wife and daughter - is resting in a safe location. In a press conference, Detective Superintendent Barrie Walmsley gives a description of the robbers who are considered armed and dangerous, and answers claims that the police did not act quickly enough. A reward of 25,000 pounds has been offered for information. Male reporter not identified.
