Peter Spencer interviews Education Minister, Angela Rumbold about an improvement in GCSE grades in 1989. According to new figures, the proportion of students gaining high grades in the major subjects rose by three-point-five per cent - meaning nearly half of the people who took the exam this year have achieved very good results.
