- Following the explosion on the North Sea oil rig, Piper Alpha, which killed 167 men, Occidental Petroleum who own the rig and Disaster Legal who represent many of the families have agreed on an average compensation deal of 600,000 pounds. Widow Nancy Gill(?) says that money is immaterial and she just wants to get back to normality. Occidental spokesperson Alex Blake Milton says many of the families are yet to make claims. Lynne Mennie reports.
