Description
Rodney Bennett interviews Jeremy Isaacs, Director-General of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The Royal Opera House expects to lose over a million pounds in the current financial year and it blames cuts in its grant from the Arts Council. The interview coincides with the release of the annual report, which reveals that money taken at the box office exceeds that given in subsidy. Isaacs says the grant is simply not enough to meet the opera company’s needs.
