After Nigel Lawson’s statement on the budget, Science and Education Secretary Kenneth Baker has won an overall increase in real terms of 4 percent. John Alcock interviews Baker who says a large part of the increase will go towards ecological research work such as that of the British Antarctic Survey. He also comments on extra spending in schools.
