- Report on Thames Television’s decision to drop coverage of the Miss World pageant, after taking it over from the BBC eight years ago. Julia Morley, the organiser of the competition, condemns the move, whilst Clare Short MP says it is a good thing to stop seeing women exploited. Two of this year’s contestants, Emma Rabbe (Miss Venezuela) and Linda Petursdottir (Miss Iceland), defend the pageant, and Ron Pollard of bookmaker Ladbrokes explains how he carries out his professional research.
