- Description
- James Bays interviews the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Robert Runcie, after he signed a joint declaration with the Pope in Rome which he hopes will pave the way towards unity between the Catholic and Protestant churches. Both leaders have admitted that they see no solution to the obstacles posed by the ordination of women priests in some parts of the Anglican Communion. But Dr Runcie says he hopes that all Christians will see the historic meeting as an important move towards a closer relationship between the two churches. He also comments on the reaction of the Reverend Dr Ian Paisley to the agreement.
