- Description
- John Alcock reports on a crisis cabinet meeting called by Irish Taoiseach, Charles Haughey, to discuss British demands for the extradition of IRA suspect, Patrick Ryan. The British Government is furious that the Irish police did not arrest Ryan before he disappeared from a Dublin clinic and some Westminster MPs are accusing the Irish Government of being party to a plot to prevent the former priest’s extradition. But many Irish MPs are equally angry about what they see as Britain’s bullying attitude and both sides warn that the Anglo-Irish agreement is on the brink of destruction. Includes interviews with solicitor, Elio Malocco; Ivor Stanbrook MP; David Andrews, Irish MP; Geraldine Kennedy, Irish MP; John Kelly, former Attorney General.
