Dominic Waghorn inspects the Royal Mint’s new two pound coin and replacement fifty pence piece due to be introduced in two years’ time, and interviews Royal Mint Chief Executive Roger Holmes about the changes. Holmes on the consultation process; the designs of the coins, which took into account the needs of the blind and the visually impaired; and the necessary delay to accommodate the vending industry.
