Clive Myrie asks Thabo Mbeki, head of international affairs for the ANC, for his reaction to the release of 8 leading South African political prisoners, in President F W de Klerk’s boldest reform move so far. Mbeki claims it is sanctions that have brought their release. He is on his way to the Commonwealth conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and will press for more pressure on South Africa.
