- Description
- Conservative MP Norman Tebbit on the political future of former prime minister Edward Heath. Tebbit admits that Heath is well-respected but compares him to Ulster Unionist MP Enoch Powell, who was marginalised and then left the Conservative Party. He also claims that Heath would be a good replacement for the retiring Secretary General of NATO, Joseph Luns, and adds that he should speak with Roy Jenkins who left British politics to become the President of the European Commission. Tebbit adds that it is highly unlikely that Heath could replace Margaret Thatcher as leader of the Conservative Party. Male interviewer not identified.
