- Description
- British hostages have arrived back in the UK after being freed by Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Susan Reed(?) is happy that her husband George Reed(?), a medical engineer, is home; George says he did try to escape but was found by Iraqi soldiers and beaten. Raymond Washer says there is widespread criticism over Britain’s role in the Gulf Crisis, and Bob Byatt(?) agrees, saying the Government seemed happier to have them there so that they had an excuse to be there themselves. Tony Mason says they lived in fear of attack from Western forces. Andy Stenton reports.
