- Margaret Shiels reports on a speech by Transport Secretary, Cecil Parkinson at the opening of the new headquarters of British Transport Police (BTP) near Victoria Station in London, where he pledged to defeat thuggery on the railways. Parkinson said people must be able to travel in safety and without fear of attack. Meanwhile, the Chief Constable of BTP, Desmond O’Brien, says railways stations are a magnet for undesirables, for vandals, and for predators.
