- Dr Patrick C. Steptoe on the world’s first test-tube twins, born in Australia. Stephen and Amanda were born on 06/06/81, to 31 year-old Radmila Mays. The world’s first test-tube baby was conceived in 1978 in a laboratory run by Dr Steptoe, who began developing the test-tube fertilisation process in the early 1970s.
