- Kevin Murphy reports on threats to assassinate King Khalid of Saudi Arabia during his visit to London. Two Palestinian guerrilla groups, led by Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi and international terrorist Carlos the Jackal, are alleged by Egypt’s Middle East News Agency to be plotting the killing. The King is due to visit the Queen Mother, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Foreign Secretary Lord Carrington. He also has engagements with the Lord Mayor of London, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador and a banquet at Claridge’s Hotel which will be attended by the Queen, Prince Philip, and the Queen Mother.
