Peter Allen reports following the defeat of the Government over pay sanctions in the House of Commons. Following the defeat, Prime Minister James Callaghan calls for a vote of confidence, announcing if his government is defeated there will be a general election. Labour MP Martin Flannery calls for the Prime Minister to meet Labour rebels in the middle; shadow Chancellor Geoffrey Howe says the sanctions policy has been discredited and should be abandoned.
