Description
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, makes his personal predictions for the future, on the Radio Clyde programme, Platform Towards 2000. On prophecy, objective techniques, computer analysis, also the attitudes of the individual forecaster, the public and the international community. He argues that in making predictions we should take into account human nature and assess the ethical, moral and spiritual values which people are likely to adopt in the year 2000, and trust individuals to pursue their own interests to the benefit of their fellow citizens and the state as a whole. He forecasts increasing bureaucratic involvement in the lives of individual citizens and a corresponding decrease in freedom of choice and individual responsibility; also that nationalism will lead to increasing state responsibility for cultural, sporting and economic activities. Introduction by unidentified male presenter.
