- Report on the re-election of Dr Milton Obote as President of Uganda. Dr Obote was deposed in the military coup led by Idi Amin in 1971 and lived in exile in Tanzania. It is unclear whether the elections were free and fair but his party - Uganda People’s Congress - had the support of the chairman of the governing Military Commission, Paulo Muwanga.
