Description
Unidentified male speaker on the funding of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), following the Penlee lifeboat disaster of 19/12/81. He says the organisation needs £14 million a year and relies entirely on voluntary contributions. The charity does not want to receive government funding because it would compromise the service. He says lifeboat crews never ask for salvage money because they do not want ships’ masters to be put off asking for assistance. Male interviewer not identified.
