- Anti-Iranian protests are taking place in the United States. President Jimmy Carter has issued a decree banning demonstrations in front of government buildings. US Secretary of State, Cyrus Vance says the Government needs the support of the American people. US State Department spokesman Hodding Carter III says he will welcome the help of anyone, including the Palestine Liberation Organization. The Iranian Government will not negotiate with the PLO. A message is being delivered from Carter to Khomeini. Press Secretary Jody Powell says that President Carter will not visit Canada. The Shah has issued a statement saying he will leave to help the hostages. The reporter is Andrew Manderstam.
