- US President, Jimmy Carter has changed his mind over the meeting of the UN Security Council. He is betting that the UN will condemn Iran, but Iran wants to expose the Shah’s regime and his link to Washington. Negotiations between Tehran and Washington over the American hostages are still under way. Kurt Waldheim, Secretary General of the United Nations, will be sponsoring the debate. President Carter has said he was not optimistic that the UN meeting would help the hostages. The Shah has been preparing his suitcases to leave the country. The reporter is Andrew Manderstam.
