- Description
- Monty At Large. Monty Modlyn presents a programme on the London borough of Havering and Romford. He speaks to local mayor Angie Smith and councillor David Smith. Cancer sufferer Brenda King(?) has organised a petition with over 28,000 signatures in reaction to the closure of the local cancer unit. Modlyn also speaks to members of the Haverettes girls’ marching band, including founder Sylvia Smith. He meets Ron Kempton(?) and Arthur Howes(?) of the local chamber of commerce, and PC Bill Smith, who responds to residents’ concerns over local shoplifting and crime levels. Roy Mills(?), editor of local newspaper the Romford Reporter, tells Modlyn that Havering needs more restaurants and bars. Sound in mono. Break in audio midway through clip.
