- Reporter documents the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 in Beijing, China, leading up to the Tiananmen Square Massacre on 4 June 1989. The progression of events as they unfold, sharing his experience of being a Western broadcaster at the demonstrations and combining this with recordings, interviews and vox pops with demonstrators. The recordings include actuality from the demonstrations; the stream of information announced live over loud speakers; the sound of helicopters; the countdown to the arrival of the military; chanting, shouting, singing and sirens. Ends with the presenter’s reflections on the massacre and the aftermath in Beijing, including interviews with students about what happened and what it means for the future. Short breaks in the audio where adverts have been removed. Male presenter/reporter not identified.
