- Special Saturday documentary Happy Birthday Jack, on John George (Jack) Phillips, Chief Wireless Operator on the SS Titanic, who celebrated his 25th birthday on board and stayed at his post sending SOS distress signals until the ship foundered on 15 April 1912. Includes memories of Titanic survivors Eva Hart and Frank Prentice, senior officer Charles Herbert Lightoller and wireless operator on the Empress of Ireland, Ronald Ferguson. Also newspaper accounts from the New York Times and Daily Mirror, and diary? extracts from Phillips’s friend Walter Gray(?). With musical from a song about Phillips and hymn Eternal Father Strong to Save. Additional voices by John Byles(?), Nick Jackson and David Lucas. Music written and sung by Alan Harlow, Maggie St George, Dave Young and St James Church Choir, Weybridge. Narrator Jim Wainwright. Producer Patrick Campbell.
