Description

Concluding episode of reading of Henry James’ novella Daisy Miller, which describes the pursuit in Switzerland and Italy of the American Daisy by her compatriot Winterbourne. Episode covers their meeting up in Rome, where Daisy has shocked local society by walking out with Italian Mr Giovanelli; Winterbourne’s coming across the couple at the Colosseum, when he decides she is no longer worth pursuing and warns her of the danger of Roman Fever; Daisy’s subsequent death; Winterbourne’s realisation she had been an innocent flirt, and his return to Geneva to pursue another lady.
