Description

Episode of a reading of Mary Webb’s 1924 novel, Precious Bane. The story is narrated by the character of Prue Sarn. Her brother Gideon Sarn is romancing Jancis Beguildy, daughter of wizard Beguildy, but the relationship is opposed by Jancis’s father. He curses Sarn’s father and the family’s harvest is destroyed by fire.
