- Notes
- The reference to ‘Wolfe’ at the 1953 Coronation is conceivably a mistake for Martin Rolfe [qv] of Pathe, who is credited as working on the Coronation rehearsal but, strangely, is omitted from the credits for the actual event. However, it clearly appears as ‘Wolfe’ on the rota dopesheet.
Career
Wolfe was credited on the camera team that filmed ‘THE CORONATION OF HM QUEEN ELIZABETH’ in Pathe News No.53/41 of June 1953, filming from the roof of Buckingham Palace. This footage was also used by British Paramount in their Coronation coverage in Issue No.2323 the following day. Wolfe was possibly the cameraman Douglas Wolfe, who had worked in the AFPU during the war, and in 1946 had joined the Dartington Hall Film Unit, in charge of photography and editing. It seems that he continued to do occasional freelance work however, as his last credit is for a ‘TECHNICOLOR - "SPECIAL"' in Pathe News No.69/84 of October 1969.
