Career
In July 1944 Campbell Harper was credited as the production company for ‘GRAIN HARVEST,' a public information film produced for the Scottish Office and added to newsreels. Harper was also listed as filming the Royal visit to Edinburgh in September 1945, possibly working for Movietone and providing silent cut-ins to Paul Wyand’s [qv] sound coverage. In December 1945 Harper Films was credited as providing footage of Eisenhower in Scotland for ‘BRITISH HOME FOR EISENHOWER’ in British Movietone News No.863, and may afterwards have become Scottish representatives for British Movietone News. Campbell Harper was credited with a series of Scottish stories, from ‘SCOTLAND HALT KIWIS’ in No.868A of January 1946 to ‘ALL US FINAL AT CARNOUSTIE’ in No.939A of June 1947. However, Harper Films were apparently replaced as Movietone’s Scottish representatives by Elder Films, run by John Elder [qv].
