Career
According to Terry Gallacher [qv] of Movietone, John Dooley ‘was a freelance cameraman who owned and ran Plymouth Films and supplied a number of stories from the West Country.' The Movietone credits for Plymouth Films generally cover naval stories, and begin with ‘SS VENUS REFLOATED,' an item from Plymouth in British Movietone News No.1347 of March 1955. Dooley himself was credited with providing film for ''VARSITY NEWS’ in British Movietone News No.1465 of July 1957. The last Plymouth Films credit is for ‘UKI’ - an item on a British communications satellite - in No.1714A of April 1962.
