Career
Harold Abrahams acted as a commentator for Movietone, being credited for ‘A.A.A. CHAMPIONSHIPS AT WHITE CITY’ in British Movietone News No.267 of July 1934, and ‘ATHLETICS: DESCRIPTION BY H.M. ABRAHAMS’ in No.407 of March 1937. As an athlete, he represented Great Britain at the 1920 and 1924 Olympic Games, winning the 100m in 1924 (as portrayed in the film ‘Chariots of Fire’). He first broadcast on radio in 1924 and on television in 1939, and was atheletics correspondent of the Sunday Times 1925-1967. He was also Vice President and the President of the Amateur Athletics Association.
