Career
Robert Vas was, in 1956, a 25 year old refugee from Budapest, a graduate of Budapest film school. whose privately made 16mm films secured from Donald Alexander [qv] at the National Coal Board Film Unit [qv] his frist professional film post and his ACTT ticket. He edited Mining Review each month for cinema release, and also made MASTER SINGERS. He was credited as a cutter for several Mining Review stories, including ‘END OF THE ROAD’ in 17th Year No.7 of March 1964, ‘STORY 705’ in 17th Year No.8 of April 1964 and ‘THE SOMERSET COALFIELD’ in 17th Year No.12 of August 1964.
Vas went on to make several well-known television documentaries.
