Career

The Metropolitan Police force was established under the first Metropolitan Police Act in 1829. Since then, the organisation has been responsible for the policing of London, from its base at New Scotland Yard.

In 1977, the Met sponsored an issue of the National Coal Board [qv] cinemagazine, Review, on the subject of the Metropolitan Police Dog Section, entitled ‘ONE MAN - ONE DOG’ in Review 30th Year No.8 of April 1977. It also sponsored ‘EIGHT FEET TALL’ in Review 30th Year No.12 of August 1977 and ‘POLICE CONSTABLE - JOHN PATTERSON’ in Review 33rd Year No.8 of April 1980.
