Career

Eric Beecroft was one of the regular directors of London Line, a magazine programme produced by the Central Office of Information [qv], initially for the Commonwealth Relations Office [qv]. It was produced in two main editions, ‘Old Commonwealth’ for established countries of the Commonwealth such as Australia and Canada and ‘New Commonwealth’ primarily for countries in Africa and the Caribbean that had recently joined. One of his earliest credits is for both versions of London Line No.82, released in 1966. He also worked occasionally as a producer on the ‘New Commonwealth’ edition. One of his earliest credits as producer is: ‘COMPUTER IN THE AIR’, London Line No.358, released in 1971.
