Career

Janice Willett was one of the regular producers of the ‘New Commonwealth’ versions of London Line (1964-1979), a magazine programme produced by the Central Office of Information [qv]. These editions were shown in countries which had recently joined the Commonwealth, primarily in Africa and the Caribbean. One of her earliest credits is for ‘The Times’ Overseas Students Welfare Expansion Programme’ London Line No.82, released in 1966. She subsequently married and is credited as: Janice Kay. One of her earliest credits as Janice Kay was as researcher/writer on ‘AUDIO VISUAL - AIDS TO FARMING’ London Line No.520, released in 1976. She worked as director and writer on another COI magazine programme in the late 1970s, This Week In Britain (1959-1980) as well as regularly producing early editions of the COI science magazine series Living Tomorrow (1969-1983) and Tomorrow Today (1969-1974). She produced the first edition of both series ‘HOLIDAY SKIMMER’ Living Tomorrow and Tomorrow Today No.1, released in 1969.
