Merlin Films specialised in short documentary films and instructional films. Between 1946 and 1949 they made the first thirty-six issues of the cinemagazine This Is Britain, produced by the Central Office of Information [qv] for the Board of Trade [qv] for overseas distribution. For the remaining fifteen issues in the series were made by the Crown Film Unit [qv].
