Career

Harry Watt had a long and successful career as a film director. He began working for British Government film producers, the Empire Marketing Board Film Unit, the General Post Office Film Unit and the Crown Film Unit [qv] between 1931 and 1942, before moving on to Ealing Studios from 1942-1945. He continued at Ealing until 1959, leaving for a brief period during 1955-6, when he worked as a producer with Granada TV.

During his early career, Watt directed a story for the March of Time as a freelancer with the European edition: ‘ENGLAND’ in 2nd Year No.4 of March 1936.
