Career
The British Railways Board was established by the Transport Act 1962, as a successor to the British Transport Commission. It’s function was, broadly, to provide a railway service in Britain. As such, the Board had a vast range of responsibilities, one of which was informing British Rail employees of developments in the industry. They did this, in part, by sponsoring The Way Ahead (Wyvern) and The Way Ahead (National) cinemagazines.
Following the creation of the Strategic Rail Authority in 2000, the BRB retains responsibility for British Transport Police and non-operational railway land.
