Career

In January 1914 it was announced that Charles Weddup of Charles Urban’s Kineto Company had gone to film ‘the most inaccessible parts of Snowdon,' using a camera that weighed 100 lb. His footage was released by Kineto in March 1914 as ‘Winter Climbing On Snowdon.' After the outbreak of war in August 1914 Weddup became involved in the first official film project, and in October 1915 Urban took Weddup, Wilson [qv], and Tong [qv] to film the Grand Fleet. In eleven days Weddup took 4,500 feet of film, both monochrome and Kinemacolor, which was later used in the official film ‘Britain Prepared.' In April 1916 Weddup was still working as a cameraman for Kineto and Kinemacolor Ltd., and in November 1920 he was a member of the camera team that filmed the ‘BURIAL OF UNKNOWN WARRIOR’ for No.481-2 of the Topical Budget.
