U. K. Whipple was an American cameraman working for Universal, who in 1921 filmed the Duke of Connaught’s tour of India for the Topical Film Company, working alongside Harold Jeapes [qv]. Their material appeared regularly in the Topical Budget, starting with ‘MARSEILLES - DUKE OF CONNAUGHT’S TOUR’ in No.490-1 of January 1921, and ending with ‘DUKE OF CONNAUGHT’ in No.501-1 of March 1921. The material from Whipple and Harold Jeapes was afterwards compiled into the feature-length documentary ‘Across India With The Duke Of Connaught’ (1921).
