- The Somerset town which caught the full force of the recent floods was visited by the Duke of Edinburgh who saw mopping-up operations. But at Lawrence Weston, site of Bristol Corporation’s rubbish tip, the danger of infection and disease was very real as scavengers salvaged flood damage goods despite medical warning that they could be contaminated by sewage.
