Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Boxing. DESCRIPTION: The fight between Tommy McGovern and Billy Thompson for the British Lightweight Championship was over almost before it had begun. Thompson, weakened by reducing, was KO’d in 45 seconds including the count. Big boxing news naturally centres around the Turpin-Robinson fight and Sugar Ray gets into his stride at Pompton Lakes. Down at Grossinger Lakes Airfield, Randy gets into his stride, without the disputed headgear. Not in the same class, perhaps, but well on the way are two Australian youngsters (both under three stone) who fight to a draw. SHOTLIST: Tommy McGovern and Billy Thompson fight for the British Lightweight Championship. Thompson was knocked out by McGovern. McGovern speaks. Sugar Ray Robinson training at Pompton Lakes.
