Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Downing Street Summit. DESCRIPTION: The Heads of State of the Western Industrial Powers gather at No 10 Downing Street for a Summit Meeting. The seven Nations represented were the USA, France, Italy, Japan, West Germany, Canada and Britain. After a day round the Conference Table, the Leaders attended a State Dinner at Buckingham Palace. SHOTLIST: Angle name ‘Downing Street’. SV closed door of No 10 Downing Street. GV zoom into James Callaghan greeting Japanese Premier Mr Takeo Fukuda. SV crowds. SV Callaghan with Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. CU Callaghan. Callaghan greets Italian Prime Minister Guilio Andreotti. GV motorcade slowly up Downing Street. SV Callaghan watches, President Carter out of car and shakes hands with Callaghan. Callaghan turns round and waves at crowds, then goes into No 10. Callaghan shakes hands with German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. French President Giscard D’Estaing is greeted by Callaghan. SV flags outside No 10. Interior No 10 with Summit Conference in progress round table. CU Giscard D’Estaing. GV Heads of State round table. SV Carter with Cyrus Vance. GV exterior Lancaster House. Interior as leaders arrive for lunch. SV Pierre Trudeau followed by Carter into luncheon room. Exterior forecourt Buckingham Palace. SV the Queen leads Heads of State into Blue Drawing Room for press pictures slow zoom into Queen and Carter - also seen are Prince Philip and Princess Margaret. LV Carter walks away from group to escort the Queen Mother on his arm into room. Slow zoom to Queen Mother and Carter chatting. LV ditto. Pan to CU Prince Charles as he moves along to stand next to Callaghan. GV the Queen with Heads of State.
