Description
It’s hard to imagine a world without lions, tigers and polar bears. But the earth’s wildest places are shrinking, and people are coming into deadly conflict with these ancient carnivores.
Predators are like a litmus test for the health of their ecosystems, needing vast territories and ample prey. The final episode of the Hunt examines the state of the planet’s most iconic animals through the eyes of the scientists fighting to save them. Crossing five continents, combining landmark natural history footage with real-life human drama, this film visits the frontline of the war with carnivores, where conservationists risk life and limb to protect them.
On the plains of Africa, Lions and Wild Dogs are competing for space with people, whilst in the jungles of India, a booming economy is actually saving the tiger from extinction. Even in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean, the largest creature that’s ever lived, the Blue Whale, is running into conflict with people. And despite inhabiting the least populated wilderness on earth, the Polar Bear is threatened by the actions of every person on the planet.
With over three-quarters of top carnivores now in decline, can people find ways to live with predators, before they disappear forever?
As David Attenborough asks, if we can’t save these iconic animals, what hope is there for the rest?
