Description
Joanne Gutknecht’s powerful play from Canada debuts on the BBC World Service. Playing with Fire won the English as a First Language category in the BBC World Service and British Council’s 25th International Radio Playwriting Competition. Judy and Arnold cannot stop fighting despite it affecting their teenage son, Daniel. Daniel has learning difficulties and the tensions between his parents are tearing him apart. Their crisis deepens when the family has to evacuate their home and Arnold puts Daniel in real danger. Set in the 1990s in a rural community engulfed by a forest fire, the play explores a marriage in disintegration.
