Description
The Music of Time from Kingston, Jamaica with Dr Carolyn Cooper from the University of West Indies, looks at Jamaican music through the decades. From drumming during slavery, to 1970’s reggae, dancehall through the 80’s and 90’s, right up to a modern day reggae revival. She explores how the sounds of this Caribbean island have shaped its people and politics. It has provided a rich commentary on the lives of Jamaicans. It is music which is also rooted in resistance to oppression.
