Description
Twenty years ago, the BBC set out on an ambitious project: to follow the lives of twenty-five children from their birth at the start of the new millennium, through every stage of their childhoods, until the turned 20. The series aimed to answer the fundamental question, what makes us who we are? Every year, the children and their parents took part in a range of scientific experiments to see whether our genes or our upbringing has the greatest impact in shaping the adults we become. Families were selected to represent a wide cross section of British society in the year 2000, with parents chosen from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and from every walk of life. Together they form a fascinating portrait of modern Britain. Now the 25 millennium babies are turning 20, three of the group - Eve, Jamie & Rhianna - look back on their own childhoods, the challenges they have faced and what growing up in 21st Century Britain has been like for them. They are joined by other children from Child of our Time who’ll be adding their own unique perspective on some of the biggest issues facing young people today and to reflect on how society has changed in the 20 years since the series began.
