Description
It’s the summer term in Ysgol y Deri, Britain’s biggest special school, and it starts with a bang - a mass school water fight. As Ysgol y Deri, a school that caters for a wide and diverse range of differently able pupils dries off, Assistive Technology Lisa Rees-Renshaw is gob smacked when she sees how quickly thirteen-year-old Grace is learning to steer an electronic wheelchair, and with a pair of surprise visitors, she witnesses one of her all-time career highlights. After months and weeks of rehearsing, it’s finally time to take to the stage with the big summer show. As Aladdin and Jasmine try and control their nerves about holding hands and singing, the Genie works his magic, and leaves the audience in shock. Not ones to shy away from a challenge, the school decide to take all their pupils and their families to the funfair, after splashing down the log flume and facing their fears on the ghost train, parents reflect on the support that the school offers. It’s prom time in school, and this is a prom like no other. Between the axe throwing, dancing, and crowning of the King and Queen, headteacher Chris Britten is reminded of the impact that Ysgol y Deri has had on the life of its pupils. Watch as the staff and pupils push boundaries and challenge misconceptions in this infectiously positive series that will leave you smiling, laughing and crying
