- Description
- Dehydration slows down the metabolism, attenuates muscle power, accelerates biological ageing, and increases the risk of chronic disease and death. Staying well hydrated can help reduce your blood glucose levels, helping to manage insulin levels, which can spike when you’re dehydrated. It’s easy to know when you’re dehydrated, as your urine will be dark in colour. The lighter in colour your urine, the better hydrated you are. In this film we take an empirical approach to the topic, finding case studies who may not drink enough and tracking how their life changes as they consciously hydrate the right amount each day over the course of a week. Dr Xand will investigate the impact of cognitive dehydration using a series of tests, by way of demonstrating in a small way the longer term impacts of this condition. We’ll also look at some of the tech available to monitor your water intake and how this could help the older generation where hydration is not as good.
