- Description
- In The Magical Forest, Chris investigates the constantly changing ecosystems of perhaps the greatest seasonal forest on the planet - the wilderness that stretches across North America - from Maine to British Columbia. How do whole ecosystems appear to collapse in winter and then work together rebuild themselves at just the right time, each spring? It all comes down to not only amazing relationships, but also the most exquisite timing. Amongst the relationships that he reveals: A lynx needs a tiny caterpillar to thrive in the canopy in spring, in order that it can find food the following winter; and a why the Grizzly bear needs the salmon run in Autumn, to nourish the plants that it eats in the Spring. It looks like magic - but it’s how nature works.
