Description
KEEPING BRITAIN ALIVE - EPISODE 7 The seventh in this landmark series which sent 100 camera crews out across the UK to capture the realities of a single day in the NHS. Individual stories of patients and staff show the extensive breadth of demand placed on this giant institution, which deals with every aspect of life and death in Britain. This week’s film features a Yorkshire District Nurse who spends her day changing dressings and tubes for elderly patients; a maverick GP in Everton who takes in addicts and abusive patients who have been rejected by other surgeries and the pair of West Midlands paramedics who liken some of their nightshift to that of a mini-cab service. In London, the Air Ambulance rush to the scene of two serious accidents and in Birmingham a medical student makes his 16th sperm donation. This week’s film takes a look at the NHS outside of the hospital environment, and through a vast patchwork of experience reveals its role in our lives from cradle to grave - touching everything in between.
